Hunting Adventures
Free range target species are red deer, chamois, tahr, fallow deer, wild pigs, goats, rabbits and hares.

No previous experience or licenses are required, there are a limited number of trophy hunts available within a set season, but there is plenty of scope for year-round non-trophy hunting adventures and hunter training sessions for first timers.

NZwildthings offers free range red stag hunts at very competitive rates for type A, B or C stags depending on budget and expectations. If you are after a wall hanger then type A, mature 12-14 points free range stags are available. If you want a decent adventure and some bone to chuck in the corner of the man-cave then a type B free range red stag could be well within your budget, these are large mature 8 -12 pointers often with missing bez tines or uneven top tines, good heavy timbered character stags. Type C immature poor quality cull stags are priced the same as our hind meat hunts.

Most hunts are based on private land leases within majestic mountain ranges using lovely farm stay or back country hut accommodation with locally sourced meals prepared by your hosts.

The guides also have concessions to take hunting trips on public wilderness areas usually for alpine Tahr and Chamois. The wilderness hunts are helicopter drop in and use spike camp tents accommodation.

NZwildthings is an outfitter member of the New Zealand Professional Hunting Guides Association.
